Frequently asked questions
Is it normal for my baby to wake up several times at night?
Yes. Night waking is normal infant biology - young babies wake to feed and have short sleep cycles with lots of light sleep. If you are concerned about how much your baby sleeps or are exhausted yourself, talk to your pediatrician.
When is it safe to let my baby sleep with a blanket?
The safest choice is a bare crib - no blankets, pillows, or soft toys - until at least the first birthday. Use a wearable blanket or one light layer more than you would wear. Ask your pediatrician if you have questions about your baby's sleep environment.
My toddler resists bedtime. What should I do?
A calm, consistent bedtime routine and the same bedtime every night help most toddlers settle. Keep screens away before bed and make the wind-down the same every evening. If bedtime battles are affecting your family, talk to your pediatrician.
How much sleep does my child need?
Needs vary, but general ranges are about 14–17 hours for newborns, 12–16 hours for infants, and 11–14 hours for toddlers and preschoolers, including naps. The best guide is your child's mood and development - and your pediatrician's advice for your specific child.
